Thank you Arden and Marylin Black for the use of your lovely cottage near 31 mile lake, where we enjoyed a three week winter painting trip near Maniwaki Québec. The sketch for Stone Cloaked in Snow I painted at the mouth of the creek that exits Lac Michel. After daily cross country ski trips around the area, we found this little gem. There is something noble about this tenacious little tree gripping precariously to life despite all the forces against it.
