Cathie Cooper is renowned for her brilliant use of color, light and contrast. The Canadian Landscape is the inspiration for most of her paintings and reproductions shown here. Cathie paints with the finest oil paints on canvas or masonite panel. All of Cathie's oil sketches are painted on location, outdoors on masonite panels. Her Studio Works are painted in her studio in St.Thérèse de Gatineau, near Maniwaki, Québec. Cathie's work has shown at various galleries in Toronto, Collingwood, Morrisburg, Cornwall, Ottawa and Québec. This web site shows the most complete selection ever of Cathie's work.

Giclée Prints

All of our Giclées are printed on polyester/cotton canvas which features a beautiful texture, and has a quality feel. Since our Giclée prints are all on canvas, the quality is more like the original oil paintings. They are always framed without glass. Since the canvas prints do not require glass to protect them, they appear more like the original paintings they were produced from. There is also a much reduced risk of damage during shipping. The term Giclée originated in 1991 with the intention of distinguishing "fine art prints" created with digital output from those for non-art or commercial purposes. The word Giclée (pronounced jee-clay) is a derivative of the French words gicleur (nozzle) and spray (gicler). Therefore, Giclée directly translated means "spray nozzle", which is basically how most digital printers direct ink onto various materials. The inks used are pigmented, making the print water-resistant and archival. Print permanence testing (measured at 450 lux simulating ideal museum and gallery conditions) by Wilhelm Imaging Research Inc., Grinnell, Iowa., concluded that the print life will exceed 120 years. All Giclée Prints are covered with a protective varnish prolonging the life of the print and making it easy to clean. A clean, damp, non-abrasive cloth is recommended.

LIMITED EDITIONS

All of our Giclee prints have a limited edition of 500. Each order is delivered with a signature card containing the edition number, title of the painting, medium, size, location the original was painted, the date the print was produced, and is signed by the artist.
