Morrisburg Leader August 29 2001 Morrisburg's first historical mural is about to get underway, with artist Catherine Cooper-Scrivener taking on the task. The waterfront scene of Morrisburg's Canal Street will stretch across the length of the west side of the valu-mart, and will cover 45 sheets of plywood. Cooper-Scrivener is painting out of a workshop for now, but hopes to be out in public view as soon as possible. She says people "have come out of the woodwork" to supply her with phots of the Morrisburg waterfront in the 1950's, but she adds she is hoping for some extra help from Morrisburg residents in locating photographs of houses along Canal Street that she's missing. Family residences she needs include Clark, Robinson, Bradfield, Ing, Beckstead, Kerr and Armstrong. Anyone with information on these houses can call Cathies Art Studio, 543-4245. |
